Fishing FAQs
The questions every angler asks before a Kenai trip.
- Do I need a fishing license?
- Yes — everyone 18+ needs an Alaska sport fishing license, and a king salmon stamp if targeting kings. Buy online through ADF&G or at our store when you arrive.
- What fish will we target?
- It depends on the month: sockeye and other salmon runs in mid-summer, rainbow trout and Dolly Varden early and late season. Your guide targets whatever is fishing best — see our season guide, and check ADF&G for current openings.
- Can kids come?
- Absolutely. Half-day floats are great for kids, and youth under 18 fish free on an adult's supervision under Alaska rules (license rules vary — check ADF&G).
- What if it rains?
- We fish in the rain — that's Alaska, and the fish don't mind. We provide waders; bring a rain shell. Trips only cancel for unsafe conditions, with full refunds or rebooking.
- Can you clean and ship my fish?
- Guides clean and bag your catch. Ask the front desk about local processing and shipping options for getting fillets home.
- Can I book lodging and fishing together?
- Yes — that's the whole idea. Tell us your dates in the inquiry form and we'll line up cabin nights and float days in one plan.
